25 Rituals to Honour Divine Feminine Energy for International Women’s Day

divine feminine energy blog

I’ll be honest: even for me, the idea of “divine feminine energy” feels like something I only hear about in moon circles and crystal shops. However, divine feminine energy is universal, and it connects us to some of our greatest qualities as women. Things like creativity, intuition, and nurturing, just to name a few!

And with International Women’s Day 2025 right around the corner, what better time to honour this powerful energy?

Let’s talk about what divine feminine energy is, how it shows up, and how you can nurture it in your day-to-day life (no chanting under the full moon required… unless you’re into that, in which case, carry on).

What Is Divine Feminine Energy?

Think of divine feminine energy as the sacred, nurturing, intuitive, and deeply creative energy within us all.

Yes, all.

Divine feminine energy isn’t just a “ladies only” club. Surprisingly, it has nothing to do with biology, and everything to do with balance.

Divine feminine energy complements the energy of the divine masculine, which leans toward action, logic, structure, hustle, “making things happen”, etc.

At its core, divine feminine energy invites us to trust our intuition, lean into creativity, and embrace the softer, more receptive qualities of ourselves.

Divine Feminine Qualities

Sacred divine feminine energy shows up in ways that may surprise you.

Here are some examples of divine feminine energy in action:

  • Intuition: Trusting the inner voice that knows, even when logic has clocked out for the day.
  • Creativity: Bringing ideas, art, and magic into existence. (And in my books, macaroni art counts!)
  • Nurturing: Caring for others, and yourself, with patience, love, and persistence.
  • Receptivity: Being open to wisdom, new opportunities, abundance, and the occasional hug.
  • Empathy: Feeling deeply and connecting with the emotions of others.
  • Wisdom: Blending knowledge with lived experience. (A.K.A. the stuff that makes you say, “Oh, now I get it.”)
  • Connection: Building relationships with others, nature, and your inner self.

I’m sure you can think of times when you were deeply in your “divine feminine energy”.

25 Rituals to Honour Your Divine Feminine Energy

Ready to tap into your deeply sacred, intuitive, and creative energy? Here are 25 rituals to help you reconnect with your divine feminine energy.

1. Morning Gratitude Practice

Start your day by writing down three things you love about your feminine energy. These could be something more esoteric like your intuition, or something practical like making Instagram-worthy charcuterie boards. Really appreciate how special your gifts are!

2. Nourish Yourself with Intention

Prepare a sacred meal to honour your body and divine feminine energy. Choose nurturing foods like fresh fruits, root vegetables, and even your favourite herbal teas.

Start by blessing your ingredients and expressing gratitude for the nourishment they provide. And remember to show gratitude for all the people who helped get them to your table.

As you prepare the meal, infuse each step with love and intention, imagining the food carrying the energy of vitality and self-love.

When you’re ready to eat, set a beautiful table with candles, flowers, or crystals that evoke feminine energy.

Eat mindfully, savouring each bite, and silently or aloud affirm: “I deserve to be nourished and cared for.” My tips on intuitive eating can provide more ideas to work with this energy at every meal.

3. Embrace the Moon

The moon is one of the two planets that embody divine feminine energy (Venus is the other). So, moon rituals are a great way to work with divine feminine energy.

The New Moon is the perfect time to set your sacred intentions. The Full Moon is the best time to release what’s holding you back.

You can find out and track the upcoming moon phases here, or download an app like Moon (that’s what I use).

4. Create an Altar

Build a mini shrine to your divine feminine energy.

You can do this on a vanity, a shelf, a windowsill, or even a corner of your closet. You might like to energetically cleanse your space beforehand. Just choose a place that’s clean and not cluttered.

Dress your altar with things like flowers, crystals, angel cards, photos of iconic women, a favourite lipstick, or anything else that inspires your divine feminine.

5. Strike a Yoga Pose for Feminine Flow

Try Goddess Pose, hip-openers, and heart-opening poses to experience divine feminine energy.

  • Goddess Pose opens the hips and engages the lower body, symbolizing strength, stability, and the nurturing power of the divine feminine.
  • Pigeon Pose is a deep hip opener that helps release stored emotional tension and fosters self-compassion and balance.
  • Child’s Pose is a grounding pose that helps you surrender, connect to your inner self, and create a sense of safety.

6. Dress in Something Divine

Rock that dress, scarf, or piece of jewelry that makes you feel like Beyoncé and Mother Earth had a love child.

Or, wear something you normally wouldn’t.

How did you feel? What emotions or feelings came up for you during the day?

7. Dance Like Nobody’s Watching

Put on your favourite playlist and dance like you’re auditioning for the lead role in Footloose.

Ecstatic dance can be another wonderful way to connect with your body and allow yourself to go deep and flow with the music.

8. Write Yourself a Love Letter

Acknowledge your strengths, beauty, compassion, intuition, or everything else.

Write a list of 25 things you love about yourself. Or a list of 25 things you love about a favourite woman in your life. Seal it with a kiss. (Literally.)

9. Use Sound for Rituals

Chant, hum, or use singing bowls to create vibrations that awaken your inner goddess.

My Inner Healer Library music tracks are another favourite way to activate your divine feminine energy: check out Self Love; Creativity and Problem-solving Skills; Abundance, Prosperity & Wealth; and Confidence, Self-worth and Self-esteem.

10. Commune with Nature

Take a walk, hug a tree, or just sit and listen to the wind. Mother Earth is the perfect embodiment of divine feminine energy.

Here are more ideas if you want creative ways to connect with nature.

11. Buy Yourself Flowers

Treat yourself to some flowers! It’s such a nice treat in the dead of winter.

Another option (and far more long-lasting) would be to treat yourself to a flower essence or flower essence blend.

Red Clover flower essence, My Inner Love flower essence blend, and Wild Hollyhock flower essence are all amazing choices.

12. Feed Your Creativity

Paint, draw, write, or craft without a plan. Let your inner child run wild. (Just don’t forget to clean up after yourself… and I say this as a mother of a young child 😉

Create new divine feminine symbols that represent you and where you’re at in your life. Use these symbols to energize any areas in your life that feel stuck or stagnant.

Trust that whatever flows through your creativity is meant to be.

13. Host a Divine Feminine Energy Gathering

Share stories, laugh, cry, and connect with other women. Build a circle of trust and support.

If you want to attend a women’s event rather than host one, I love using Eventbrite to find public women’s circles and gatherings (online or in person).

And if you’re in Orillia and area, join us for one of our women’s connection circles!

14. Take a Ritual Bath

Soak in the magic of sacred waters. Light some candles. Turn your phone off. Set some effective intentions. Add rose petals and a few drops of rose or geranium essential oils to your bathwater. Bonus points if you add some Epsom salts for extra relaxation. Do what you need to do to bliss out.

15. Journal About Your Divine Feminine Energy

Journalling is a beautiful way to connect with yourself and your divine feminine energy.

A few journal prompts you might enjoy:

  • How do I currently nurture myself and others?
  • How can I bring more balance between giving and receiving in my relationships?
  • What parts of my divine feminine energy have I suppressed or overlooked?
  • How can I start reclaiming and celebrating them?
  • How do I cultivate meaningful connections with others and the world around me?
  • What steps can I take to deepen these bonds while staying true to myself?

Allow your writing to flow without judgment or expectation.

16. Perform a Sacred Mirror Practice

Find a quiet space where you can comfortably sit in front of a mirror. Gaze deeply into your reflection, seeing beyond the surface, to the wisdom and beauty within. Speak words of love, encouragement, and affirmation to yourself, honouring your divine feminine energy. Choose 1 or 2 affirmations that you like, e.g. “I am worthy of love and abundance” or “I honour the sacred power within me.”

17. Connect to Your Pelvis

This body area is connected with the sacral chakra, the centre of creativity, reproduction, sexual wellness, and more. You might explore some sacred practices like pelvic steaming, somatic activations, or using a yoni egg. (Of course, be sure to research any contraindications to make sure any practices you choose are right for you!).

18. Experiment with Aromatherapy

Use essential oils to activate your divine feminine energy.

Here are some ideas:

  • Add a few drops of your favourite essential oils (think rose, jasmine, or ylang-ylang) to a carrier oil (like coconut or jojoba). Massage this blend into your wrists, neck, and heart space.
  • Add a few drops of lavender, sandalwood, or clary sage essential oils to a diffuser, and let the soothing aroma fill your space.

19. Read a Divine Feminine Energy Book

Dive into books by or about women who inspire you. Read books with a strong female hero or character. Want to tap into your divine feminine energy on a more regular basis? Start a book club and invite all your female friends.

20. Perform a Forgiveness Ritual

Write down grudges or regrets. Burn them safely, yelling “Bye Felicia!” Just kidding. Set the intention to release them, and any energies associated with them, with love. You could also pour your heart into a forgiveness letter; choose to keep it or burn it. It’s up to you.

I also love doing cord-cutting as part of forgiveness practices.

To do this, sit quietly and picture a person you want to forgive. Let your mind imagine cords of energy connecting you to this person or situation. The cords may be different shapes, sizes, textures, or materials — just go with whatever shows up.

Next, see yourself gently cutting those cords with a golden light, a sharp knife, or a sacred flame. Repeat the affirmation, “I release this connection with love and forgiveness.”

21. Play with Affirmations

You can use affirmations on their own, and combine them with other practices like meditation or breathwork. You can even create visual reminders by sticking them on your bathroom mirror or adding them to your Pinterest vision board.

Here are a few ideas (or make your own and choose words that resonate with you):

  • I am a radiant, creative force of nature.
  • I am open to receiving abundance from the universe.
  • I trust my inner wisdom to guide me with grace.

22. Connect with Your Ancestors

Honour the women in your lineage with photos, stories, quiet reflection, or any other practices that inspire you.

Here are some ideas to try:

  • Meditate with your maternal ancestors. Sit quietly, close your eyes, and ask your maternal ancestors for their wisdom, love, and support. Visualize them surrounding you with a warm, nurturing light. Prefer a guided meditation? Insight Timer is an amazing app that offers so many great meditations. I can pretty much guarantee you’ll find something you love.
  • Write a letter to a female ancestor, asking for her wisdom, blessings, or insights about embracing your divine feminine energy. Allow your pen to flow freely as if she were answering you herself.

23. Take Yourself on a Solo Date

Take yourself out for a hike, a meal, or even just a coffee. Spend time with you. Enjoy a beautiful view, even if it’s just your reflection in the mirror. You could even bring your journal along and answer some of the journal prompts listed above.

24. Plant Something

Plant something and watch it grow as a reminder of your own growth and potential.

This is the perfect time of year to plant some seeds (literally) for spring planting in your garden.

Don’t have space or time for a garden? My beginner’s guide to sprouting can help you create a mini garden indoors year-round!

25. Reflect on Your Day

Close out the day by acknowledging 3 moments where you felt connected to your divine feminine energy. Add them to your journal so you can look back on them months from now, or even in a year on the next International Women’s Day.

Embrace Your Divine Feminine Energy

This International Women’s Day, let’s embrace the divine feminine energy that lives within all of us. Whether you try one ritual or all 25, know that each one helps awaken the nurturing, creative, sacred divine feminine energy within you.

So grab that journal, light that candle, and let your inner queen shine. 💖

Life is a plate… Eat up!
