Pinterest vision board? I used to think that the only people using Pinterest were crafty people. (And sadly, I am not a member of that group, despite my best attempts at making slime for my son, or pinning tasty healthy recipes I may or may not ever make 😉
But you know what: I actually, truly love Pinterest. And today, I want to share why I love using Pinterest to create vision boards and manifest your dream life.
Why Use Pinterest for Goal-setting
First, an important question: are you ready to transform your dreams into reality?
If not, then why not?
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to lose sight of our true dreams, desires and goals.
However, what if there was a fun, creative way to keep them front and centre?
Enter the digital Pinterest vision board– a powerful tool for designing your dream life and manifesting your desires.
Personally, my favourite way to create a vision board is on Pinterest. It’s a feast for the eyes!
In this guide, I’ll explain why this platform is my favourite place to create Pinterest dream boards. In addition, you’ll be both inspired to set your goals AND motivated to stick to them.
Why Create a Vision Board on Pinterest
Before we dive into ‘how’ to make a vision board on Pinterest, let’s talk about the ‘why.’
Vision boards have been around for years. In the old days, we used to rip pictures, quotes and inspiration from magazines and glue them on to poster boards. (Maybe you’ve even been asked by a friend for your old Seventeen magazines? No? Just me then… ;))
In this digital age, Pinterest is the best platform for your digital dream board!
Why You Should Make a Pinterest Vision Board
Here are some reasons you might use Pinterest to make a vision board:
- Endless Inspiration: Pinterest is a massive database of images and ideas. It has everything you could imagine to create a vision board for your dreams and goals. And you’re not limited to what you can find in magazines – the world is quite literally at your fingertips. N.B. Keep in mind that these images are almost always protected by copyright. So don’t use them for other projects or activities without the original owner’s permission.
- Accessibility: Your Pinterest vision board is always at your fingertips, whether you’re on your phone, tablet, or computer.
- Easy Updates: With a Pinterest vision board, add, remove, or rearrange pins effortlessly as your goals, dreams and desires evolve. You can’t do that on a poster board!
- Track Multiple Goals: I like to create separate Pinterest boards for different life areas. You can also combine them into one big giant life vision board on Pinterest.
- Discover New Ideas: Pinterest’s algorithm will suggest pins that are related to yours. This can potentially expand your vision beyond your initial goals. And personally, sometimes I think the algo is just masquerading as Spirit! I envision something and then it appears.
- Cost-Effective: Creating a vision board on Pinterest is free, making it accessible for everyone. (Not to mention the time you save driving around to collect old magazines!)
Now let’s get into the nitty-gritty of how to create a Pinterest vision board that truly reflects your goals, dreams, and desires.
How to Make a Vision Board on Pinterest: Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Set Up Your Pinterest Account
If you’re new to Pinterest, start by creating an account. This is the first step to create a vision board on Pinterest.
Download the app or visit Pinterest.com and sign up using your email, Google account, or Facebook. Once you’re in, it’s time to get pinning!
Step 2: Create Your Pinterest Vision Board
- Click on the “+” icon on the Pinterest homepage.
- Select “Create board” from the drop-down menu.
- Name your board something like “My Pinterest Vision Board 2025” or “Dream Board on Pinterest.”
- Choose your privacy settings. Do you want it to be public or private? I recommend sticking with private until you’re ready to share (or not).
- Click “Create” to set up your new Pinterest board for goals.
Step 3: Define Your Goals and Dreams
Before you start pinning, reflect on your goals, dreams, and desires.
Consider various aspects of your life like:
- Career and professional growth
- Personal development
- Relationships and family
- Health and fitness
- Kids and parenting
- Travel and adventures
- Home and lifestyle
- Financial goals
- Spiritual or emotional well-being
Write down your dreams or goals for each area. Be specific, but don’t limit yourself. Dream big!
This key step in creating a vision board on Pinterest ensures your board truly reflects your goals and dreams.
Step 4: Search for Inspiring Images
Now comes the fun part of making a Pinterest vision board – finding images that represent your dreams and goals.
Use Pinterest’s search bar to look for keywords related to your dreams.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
- For career goals: Search for images of your dream job, dream business, office space, or motivational quotes.
- For travel: Look up photos of destinations you want to visit.
- For health and fitness: Find images of healthy meals, workout routines, or body types you admire.
- For personal growth: Search for pins about personal development, new skills you want to learn, or quotes about self-improvement.
Pro Tip: Use specific search terms to find exactly what you’re looking for.
Instead of searching for “house,” try “renovated farmhouse with wraparound porch” or “modern condo with views” if that’s your vibe.
It will help you narrow down your dream or goal. And you won’t have to sift through thousands of photos that are “sort of” a match!
Step 5: Start Pinning
As you find images that match your goals, add them to your Pinterest dream board.
- Hover over the image and click the “Save” button.
- Select your chosen vision board from the dropdown menu.
- Add a personal note to the pin if you want to remember why you chose it.
If I can offer one tip: don’t rush this process. Take your time to find images that truly speak to you. Tap into the feelings you want to experience when achieving your goals. This is so important for creating a Pinterest vision board that inspires you to reach your goals, dreams, and desires.
Step 6: Organize Your Board
Once you’ve collected a good number of pins, it’s time to organize your Pinterest vision board. This will help make it visually appealing and easy to navigate.
Here’s how to do that:
- Open one of your Pinterest vision boards.
- Click “Organize” at the top of the board.
- Drag and drop pins to arrange them in a way that makes sense to you.
- Consider grouping related pins together or creating a flow that tells a story.
Step 7: Add Your Own Images
Okay, here’s where it can get really fun. You can actually personalize your vision board by uploading your own images to Pinterest.
Here’s how you can upload your own images:
- Click the “+” icon and select “Create Pin.”
- Upload one of your photos that reflects your goal, dream, or desire. This could be a picture of you at your goal weight, or a snapshot of your dream vacation spot.
- Add a title and description to your pin.
- Save it to your vision board.
Step 8: Use Sections for Better Organization
If you have multiple goals on one board, consider using sections to keep your Pinterest board for goals organized.
- Click “Add section” at the top of your board.
- Name the section. Some examples are “Business Goals,” “Dream Home,” “Fitness Journey”, etc.
- Drag the relevant pins into each section.
This helps you focus your energy on specific areas of your life.
Step 9: Collaborate and Share (Optional)
I’ll admit that all my Pinterest dream boards are private (and my moon in Capricorn is quite happy with that!).
But there are times when you might want to invite others to collaborate on your Pinterest vision board for added accountability.
To share your Pinterest boards with others:
- Go to your board settings.
- Click “Invite” and enter the email address(es) of friends or family members.
- Choose whether they can add pins, rearrange the board, or just view.
Sharing can help hold you accountable and might even inspire others to create their own Pinterest vision board!
The Power of Meditation in Vision Board Creation
Before you dive into creating a vision board on Pinterest, you might want to use one of my favourite practices. Of course, that’s meditation!
Meditation can enhance your Pinterest vision board experience to:
- Increase your mental clarity. Meditation helps clear mental clutter, allowing you to focus on what truly matters when making your Pinterest dream board. If you’re unsure about your goals, use your board as an exploration tool. Pin anything that excites you and see what patterns emerge. This is especially true for my Human Design generator friends: what are you passionate about? Add pins on those topics.
- Expand your intuition. You can tune in to your inner desires to choose the perfect images for your vision board on Pinterest. If you need more ways to do this, this post shares some very practical ways to connect with your intuition. You might also enjoy these powerful visualization exercises to deepen your intuition.
- Reduce stress. Start from a calm, quiet place. You’re less likely to feel overwhelmed about creating a Pinterest vision board.
- Boost creativity. Meditation can boost your creative thinking, leading to a more inspiring and personalized Pinterest board for goals.
- Connect to your goals, dreams, and desires. Visualize your goals and you’ll create a stronger emotional connection to your Pinterest vision board.

The Power of Visualization
Let’s keep in mind that creating a vision board on Pinterest isn’t just about collecting pretty pictures. It can actually be a powerful visualization tool backed by psychology.
When we consistently visualize our goals, we:
- Program our brains to recognize resources. Visualization helps our brain identify opportunities and resources that can help us achieve our goals. This is known as the Reticular Activating System (RAS).
- Boost our motivation and commitment. Visualizing our goals regularly can increase our motivation and commitment to achieving them.
- Increase our belief in what’s possible. Visualization can enhance our self-efficacy, which is our belief in our ability to succeed. Research in sports psychology has shown that mental imagery can improve performance.
- Reduce stress and anxiety. Focusing on positive outcomes through visualization can help reduce stress and anxiety.
Your Pinterest vision board serves as a constant reminder of where you’re headed, helping to align your actions with your aspirations.
When you regularly engage with your vision board, you leverage proven psychological benefits to help you achieve your goals!
How to Keep Your Pinterest Vision Board Fresh & Up-to-date
Creating your vision board on Pinterest is just the beginning.
Here are some tips to maximize its impact and keep things fresh.
- Commit to a routine. Schedule regular times to visit your Pinterest dream board. Maybe it’s every morning with your coffee, or every Sunday evening as you plan your week. Whether it’s once a day or once a month, make it a habit you can stick to.
- Engage with your pins. Don’t just look at them. Read the descriptions, click through to articles, and really absorb the content. Remember why you felt you needed to include that dream, desire, or goal on your board. Above all, if a pin no longer matches your current frequency, remove it and move on.
- Update regularly. As you achieve your dreams, update your Pinterest board for goals to keep it relevant.
- Use it as a screensaver. Download key images from your Pinterest vision board and use them as backgrounds on your devices for constant inspiration.
- Create seasonal or yearly boards. Make new Pinterest dream boards for different phases of your life. You might also create an annual vision board to track your progress. As a business owner, I love creating quarterly boards for specific projects or programs I am working on.
- Combine with other tools. You can use your vision board on Pinterest with other favourite journals, habit trackers, or goal-setting apps for a well-rounded approach to setting your goals and achieving your dreams.
- Visualize and feel. When looking at your Pinterest vision board, close your eyes and imagine yourself living that reality. How does it feel? Engage all your senses with this practice. If you need help doing that, Quantum Leap Into Your Best Life can help!
