Do you remember the last time you dreamed BIG? Future journaling can help you tap into that magic and quantum leap!
I have always loved goal-setting. And I believe there’s something truly special about putting pen to paper to plan and participate in your future.
One of my favourite New Year traditions has always been to reflect on the year ahead. I love using future journaling to set goals and envision the future.
When you map out the future, you feel empowered and energized. This is especially true when we can do this from our intuition.
Asking questions like:
- What do you really want?
- Who do you really want to be?
- What do you really hope to achieve?
can give you powerful insights that will change your life and how you live it!
In this post, I’m happy to share how future journaling can act as a catalyst for our transformation. And it often happens at multiple levels, including physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
I’m also excited to share how it has evolved into my new program, Quantum Leap Into Your Best Life.
What is Future Journaling?
Future journaling is a practice of writing as if the life you want has already happened.
With traditional goal-setting, we might list things we hope to achieve.
With future journaling, we immerse ourselves in the future.
You write from the perspective of already living your dreams. You write AS IF you have achieved your goals, and embody your desired state of being. This could include having optimal health, a dream career, being married to the love of your life, and so on.
This practice is so powerful because it taps into both your conscious and subconscious mind. It brings clarity to your dreams and helps you break free from limiting beliefs about what’s possible.
Future journaling also blends well with manifestation techniques. It helps you align your energy and frequency with the outcomes you wish to attract.
Why it’s a Time-Honoured Tradition to Write Goals Down
The practice of envisioning the future through writing has roots in cultures around the world.
For example, Japan has a beautiful New Year tradition called “Kakizome,” or “First Writing.” On January 2, individuals write auspicious words or poems that reflect their hopes for the year.
In many ways, it’s a more symbolic version of our Western New Year’s resolutions.
While calligraphy is a central aspect of Kakizome, you only need a pen and paper for future journaling.
Plus a willingness to let your mind explore possibilities!
How Does Future Journaling Help Us Quantum Leap
A quantum leap or quantum jump happens when you collapse the gap between where you are now and where you want to be.
Future journaling acts as a bridge between these two versions of yourself, allowing you to step into that higher vibration now.
By consistently visualizing and writing from the perspective of your future self, you’re reprogramming your subconscious mind to believe that this version of you is already real.
This shift in belief is what helps accelerate the manifestation process.
It’s like telling the universe, ‘I’m ready for this,’ and watching it respond in kind.

Your info is safe with me. I will guard it with my life and promise no spam, ever. I genuinely hate it as much as you do!
How Do I Know Future Journaling Works?
Like anything, my future journaling practice has evolved over the years. However, I have been future journaling for over a decade.
And I’ve had unbelievable results! For example, 13 years ago, I moved into my dream house after future journaling a near replica of it just two years prior. I joke that the only thing it was missing was a balcony off the master bath… and a paid-off mortgage! 😉 To this day, I dream of that gorgeous bathroom.
I first created a future journaling worksheet in 2013 and offered it for free on this website. Hundreds of people have downloaded it over the years. Some of them have emailed me telling me about their great successes, many achieving their goals faster than they thought possible.
And in light of everything that has happened in recent years, it feels like the perfect time for a refresh. That’s where Quantum Leap Into Your Best Life comes in!
Here are a few client case studies:
- A former client envisioned running a thriving copywriting business. Within two months, she had a full roster of ideal, ride-or-die clients (and three major government contracts!) that skyrocketed her success.
- Another client dreamed of financial freedom. She wanted to quit her day job, but had too many ideas and was getting distracted chasing shiny things (a common pitfall of entrepreneurship!). She diligently wrote about her future vision of freedom as if she’d already achieved it. After less than a year selling digital products, she was able to quit her job and grew a community of people who aligned with her BIG vision.
These aren’t coincidences—they’re quantum leaps in action!
This practice works!
How to Use Future Journaling to Quantum Leap
My new Quantum Leap Into Your Best Life program is designed to help you tap into your future potential and fast-track your personal growth.
It’s more than just a goal-setting program; it’s a journey to meet your future self and embody that person now. You’ll enjoy a unique guided meditation that connects you with the version of you who is already living your future life.
When you journal from your future self’s perspective, you create a roadmap for your life at a subconscious level.
And that makes it both magnetic and aligned with your highest purpose!

How Future Journaling Can Supercharge Your Manifestation
Writing down your goals is a powerful act. And yet, future journaling takes it a step further by immersing you in the energy of your desired outcome.
When you feel like you are already living the life you want, you are more likely to attract those experiences into your reality. Quantum science has proven this.
How Quantum Leap Into Your Best Life Can Help
While future journaling is powerful on its own, Quantum Leap Into Your Best Life is designed to amplify your results.
This program uses a guided, subconscious meditation to help you connect with your future self. Use this before your journaling session to get into an even deeper state of flow.
After you step into this future, you can follow the prompts in the beautifully designed guidebook to anchor your vision and take actionable steps toward your desired future.
By combining guided meditations, actionable steps, and advanced journaling techniques, this program helps you tap into the energy of your future self with ease and clarity. It’s like having a roadmap for transformation—one that you can use again and again as your vision evolves.
Why Getting into that “Future State of Mind” is Key
It’s important to mention that “getting aligned” with your quantum leap is not just about writing about your future self and your future vision. As with any manifestation practice, it’s important to physically feel the emotions as much as possible.
Quantum leaps happen when your thoughts, emotions, and actions are fully aligned with your desired outcomes. Future journaling helps create this alignment by immersing you in the energy of your future self.
The more vividly you can imagine and feel the joy, excitement, and gratitude of living your dreams, the more magnetic you become to those experiences. It’s not just about thinking positively—it’s about embodying the energy of your future.
From this place, your future journaling practice will feel more authentic and powerful.
You’re not just writing from your imagination: you’re writing from your inner knowing and experience.
Tips for Powerful Future Journaling
If you want to experiment with future journaling, check out some of my top-secret tips below.
- Find a quiet space. Take a few deep breaths and centre yourself.
- Allow yourself to relax fully and completely. Light a candle, play some calming music, or even do a short meditation (like the one in Quantum Leap Into Your Best Life) to support your energy.
- Set a specific, clear intention. P.S. See this article for tips on setting effective intentions.
- Imagine yourself one year from today. Visualize yourself at the end of the next year, having achieved your goals and dreams. What does this look like? Let go of any pressure and allow your intuition to guide you.
- Write from your future self’s perspective. Now that you’ve envisioned this future, write as though you are already living it. Describe in detail the things you have achieved, the experiences you’ve had, and the ways you’ve grown. Know that there are no wrong answers. Just write what you think/feel. You may be surprised by what comes through!
- Dream big! The only limitation here is your imagination. Don’t hold back. Give yourself permission to think beyond your current circumstances.
- Review regularly. Keep the momentum going! Make future journaling a regular practice to keep your dreams alive. Revisit your entries and update them as your vision evolves. This helps connect you to your future self and the goals you’ve set.
- Celebrate your wins. As you notice your goals coming to fruition, take time to celebrate! Acknowledge the progress you’ve made and give yourself credit for the work you’re doing.
