Have you ever paused in the middle of your busy life and wondered what legacy you’re creating?
It’s one of those questions that doesn’t have an easy answer. And too often, we might be just too caught up in the daily grind to even think about it.
Yet, there’s something deeply powerful about connecting with the bigger picture of your life.
What impact are you having?
How are your choices shaping the world around you?
And most importantly, are you aligned with your legacy or life purpose?
Whether you’ve had an Akashic Records reading or you’re starting to explore what legacy means for you, I would like to help you live with intention by offering some practical exercises, ideas, prompts, and life purpose examples.
How I Came to Explore Life Purpose Examples
Many years ago, I thought I might have a career as an obituary writer. I was really obsessed with people’s stories, their lives, and how to properly and accurately remember them after death. I was also a decent writer.
So I felt like it was a perfect combination of some of my skills!
But, alas, I don’t think that’s part of my legacy anymore. Especially since my Akashic Records revealed that I’m focused on empowering my clients to think of healing beyond just the physical body.
In that article, I shared my favourite Akashic Records question that can change your life. And it’s all about your legacy.
I’m happy to share some fun exercises, tips and prompts to help you explore your legacy and consider different life purpose examples.
1. Reflect on Your Core Values
Start by identifying what truly matters to you. Ask yourself:
- What values do I hold most dear?
- What principles guide my decisions and actions?
- When I feel aligned, what am I doing or contributing?
These reflections will give you insight into the energy you naturally radiate and the type of impact you wish to leave behind.
Your legacy, or life purpose, is often closely tied to your core values. Understanding your deepest values will help you see how they shape your legacy.

2. Take a Walk Down Memory Lane
Your life purpose isn’t just about what you will leave behind. It’s also shaped by where you’ve been.
Every experience, challenge, and relationship you’ve had up until now plays a role in how you’re contributing to the world today.
If you want to understand your legacy, it can be helpful to look at the past.
To do this exercise:
- Think about moments from your past that stand out: the good, the bad, and everything in between.
- Ask yourself (or better yet, get out your journal!):
- What are the key turning points in my life that have shaped me into who I am today?
- What have I learned from my challenges and struggles?
- How have these experiences prepared me to create the legacy I’m meant to leave?
Reflect on the patterns in your past to find life purpose examples that align with your experiences. These patterns can often point to the core of your legacy.
3. Make a List of Your Natural Gifts
Your life purpose or legacy often emerges from your natural gifts and talents. Take time to reflect on what comes easily to you, or the activities that make you feel most alive. Exploring your natural gifts can provide powerful life purpose examples.
One of my clients always felt a pull toward nature but didn’t see it as a ‘gift.’ During an online Akashic Records reading, she discovered her life purpose included nature-based healing practices. She went on to create a 100% community-supported sustainable garden that became a healing sanctuary for others, not to mention countless plants, flowers, birds, bees, and other critters. This garden perfectly reflects how she is expressing her gifts through her life purpose right now.
To explore this, ask yourself:
- What talents do I often receive praise for from others?
- What activities make me lose track of time?
- How do I uniquely contribute to my community or family?
Your gifts are the tools you use to create impact. Recognizing them allows you to step into your power and start contributing in ways that are deeply aligned with who you are.
4. Journalling Prompt: “What Does My Ideal Future Look Like?”
Free write about your ideal future, focusing on the long-term impact you want to have on the world and the people around you.
Consider questions like:
- What kind of world do I want to help create?
- How do I want to be remembered by the people I love and serve?
- What specific actions or qualities would I like to pass on to future generations?
Just let your imagination and intuition flow. This exercise can give you many useful life purpose examples. It also helps you start to visualize the legacy you wish to create, even if it feels distant right now.
I highly recommend working with some of my favourite visualization techniques using this journal prompt. Or better yet, check out my Quantum Leap Into Your Best Year program for powerful extra support.
5. The “Ripple Effect” Exercise to Identify Life Purpose Examples
Think about one positive action you’ve taken recently. It could be something small, like offering a compliment or making a choice that aligned with your values.
Now, imagine how that small act could create a ripple effect. Allow yourself to think really big here.
- Who was affected by your action(s)?
- How might that person’s life change as a result?
- What could the long-term effects be?
This exercise encourages you to see the far-reaching influence of even the smallest actions. It can give you life purpose examples in your day-to-day life.
6. Journalling Prompt: “What Would I Do If I Knew I Couldn’t Fail?”
You may be familiar with this quote:
“What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?”
―Robert Schuller
Write about the actions or dreams you would pursue if you knew there were no limits or obstacles in your way.
Ask yourself:
- What would I create or contribute if fear wasn’t a factor?
- What impact would I have on the world if I truly believed in my ability to succeed?
- What do these desires reveal about my soul’s deeper purpose?
This prompt can help you tap into your soul’s desires and explore the potential of your legacy when freed from self-doubt and fear.
7. Journalling Prompt: “What Is My Heart Calling Me Toward?”
Your heart can give you many life purpose examples. Take a moment to tune into your inner wisdom and emotional state.
Ask one or more of these questions:
- What does my heart long to do or give to others?
- What causes or passions do I feel deeply drawn to, even if they seem inconsequential?
- How could these feelings be a clue to my greater purpose?
Your heart’s calling often holds the key to your life purpose. Trust that your feelings and desires are guiding you toward your unique impact.
8. Create a Vision Board Featuring Life Purpose Examples
If you’re more visually inclined, create a vision board that represents the kind of legacy you want to leave behind. A vision board filled with life purpose examples can help clarify your soul’s mission. Include images, words, and symbols that resonate with your life purpose.
Hang it somewhere you’ll see daily to keep your legacy intentions in the forefront of your mind.
This visual exercise helps activate the subconscious mind and align your actions with the legacy you want to create.
This article covers all my top tips and tricks for creating digital Pinterest vision boards.
9. Connect with Your Higher Self for Guidance
Sometimes, the best way to uncover your life purpose is to connect directly with your Higher Self. Through practices like meditation, prayer, the Akashic Records, or even sitting still in nature, you can tap into deeper wisdom and insight.
Spend time in quiet reflection and ask for guidance. If you find it difficult to sit in complete silence, try my effective Inner Healer Library vibrational healing tracks. I recommend my Stress Relief and Relaxation track, or my Focus and Concentration track.
Trust that the answers will come, even if the answers surprise you.
Ask your Higher Self these questions:
- What guidance does my Higher Self have for me about my legacy?
- What unique gifts and talents do I have to share with the world?
- What small steps can I take today to honour my Higher Self’s wisdom?
By connecting with your Higher Self, you align with your unique path. You’ll then feel more confident and empowered in the choices you make, knowing they’re aligned with your deepest truth.
10. Reflect on Your Role Models as Living Life Purpose Examples
Think about the people who inspire you most. This can be someone famous or well-known, or someone that inspires you in your personal life.
Consider:
- What qualities or actions do you admire in them?
- How might these characteristics align with your own legacy?
- Write about the influence these role models have had on you. What would you like to carry forward from their example?
By reflecting on those who inspire you, you may begin to recognize life purpose examples and qualities that resonate deeply with your goals.
Finding Your Own Life Purpose Examples to Strive For
I hope these self-reflection exercises, prompts and ideas help you explore your legacy and discover life purpose examples.
All of these activities are designed to encourage you to look within, recognize the gifts and talents you bring, and live intentionally.
Remember, your legacy doesn’t have to be ONE BIG THING. It’s in the small, everyday moments: how you show up for friends or family, your energy, and the choices you make from a place of love and integrity every day.
If you could serve the world in any way, what might that look like?
I’d love to hear about your dreams and plans!
